Delivering engaging, un-biased, and industry-relevant carbon farming information to farmers and ag advisors across New South Wales was on the agenda today as ag trainers from across the state converged on Wagga Wagga.
Facilitated by FarmLink Research Limited and featuring presentations from program lead, Grower Group Alliance, the Community of Practice workshop saw passionate trainers come together to share notes and tips and to plan their delivery of workshops under the National Industry-led Carbon Farming Outreach Program (CFOP).
FarmLink Regional Lead for the Program, Rob Martin, said the workshop helped focus attention on the important program and served as an invaluable opportunity to collaborate and co-design delivery strategies.
“This community of practice workshop brought trainers and partners together from across NSW to work together to prepare to deliver carbon farming workshops to the diverse range of farmers across the state.
“Today was focused on tooling these trainers up to go out and do that job by sharing ideas with their colleagues, helping each other fill their knowledge gaps, and receiving expert advice on the bespoke tools developed for this program by GGA.
“The workshop has shown that trainers across NSW are passionate about delivering this program and I can’t wait to see primary producers respond to the knowledge they are about to receive.”
Grower Group Alliance Acting Chief Executive, Daniel Kidd, said the National Industry-led Carbon Farming Outreach Program offers an important opportunity for farmers and ag advisors to build their carbon knowledge and is a great example of grower groups from across the country working together to deliver a milestone project.
“GGA is proud to lead a delivery network of more than forty grower groups, nationwide, including FarmLink, which co-ordinates delivery across NSW,” Mr Kidd said.
“This program offers farmers the independent, un-biased carbon farming information they need to prepare for a future where carbon knowledge is integral to primary production.
“It is only natural, therefore, to partner with local grower groups because they are best placed to understand the needs of their local community and farming systems.”
