WA No-Tillage Farmers Assoc (WANTFA)
Description
Formed in 1992 by growers to combat wind and water erosion on the coastal plain it grew to be a state wide grower group promoting Conservation Agriculture principles.
Group Vision/Mission:
WANTFA is a leading authority on research and adoption of conservation agriculture.
The Association brings expertise from around the world in order to test its application in the local context. Visiting speakers and experts will mix with growers in the field in order to stimulate and promote the conservation agriculture system.
Within Australia, WANTFA will be the place to come for the lead on a system of production excellence. The focus will be on the development of a fully integrated production system that incorporates permanent soil cover and maximises use of all resources with minimal environmental impacts.
Members of WANTFA are committed to pushing the production boundaries of conservation agriculture. Harnessing the efficiencies of innovative growers will provide insights into bringing rotations together, incorporating all components for maximum benefits and achieving a synergy of environmental and agricultural outcomes.
WANTFA will continue to grow as a network of farmers that provides leadership on conservation agriculture and works in collaborative partnerships with other grower groups to provide regionally based trials on production issues. It will continue to attract professional staff who will ensure that the organisation is a leading source of information and extension for its members.
