Southern Forests Community Landcare
Description
Southern Forests Community Landcare began in 1989 as Manjimup Land Conservation District Committee with a focus on erosion in horticulture (irrigation and soil managment techniques) and salinity mitigation.
It has undergone several iterations as funding structures have evolved from Southern Forests Landcare to Warren Catchments Council. WCC has readopted the trading name SFCL.
Vision: To work with the Warren Community to sustain healthy forests, rivers, coastal environs, rural enterprises and aspirations.

Activities/Projects
Coordinating south west WA component of national dung beetle project Dung Beetle Ecosystem Engineers (2017-22, MLA/DAWE/partners); Fox control in private property adjoining Perup National Park (SWCC); revegetating two Land for Wildlife properties (SWCC); Blackberry control on private property/adjoining public estate (SNRMO); encouraging native pollinators in urban/agricultural partnership (SNRMO); community water quality assessment of local waterways (Shire of Manjimup).
Agriculture related research interests are wide spanning livestock, poultry, pigs, horticulture, agroforestry and soils.

Past Accomplishments
A 30+ history encompasses many achievements.
Being the lead proponent in major multi-partner, multi-year projects - identifying the pathogen causing blackberry decline and rehabilitating denuded riparian area in areas of the Warren and Donnelly River systems ($2.95m)
-coordinating monitoring, breeding, distribution and extension activities in the south west WA component of the Dung Beetle Ecosystem Engineers project ($13.4m) are examples of demonstrated capacity to collaborate with research institutions, government agencies, community members and funders to deliver coordinated outcomes on budget and on time.
Agricultural innovation using biochar as a soil amendment has resulted in practice change - locally and internationally.
