Nyabing Farm Improvement Group
Description
The Nyabing Farm Improvement Group Inc was informally started in 2006 with a handful of farmers meeting on each other’s farms and touring other regions on an ad hoc basis. Now the group has 20 members and is an incorporated body with a committee of 4; President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and another 4 general committee members.
The group aims to build and share farming ideas and innovations to boost productivity and sustainability in the local farming community. The group actively meets in the paddock to discuss issues keeping a “hands on approach” to their issues and interests. The group has a straight forward approach to research by addressing issues that are relevant and will deliver a change in the paddock, and by working alongside each other, industry partners and researchers.
NFIG does not have a formal strategy however it does focus on on farm research with pastures, soil constraints, varieties, livestock practices and soil diseases. The plan is to start developing an investment strategy in 2019-2020.
