Hills Orchard Improvement Group
Description
In the early 1980’s the Hills Orchard Improvement Group Inc., was formed by a group of orchardist who wanted to share new industry techniques and innovations that were available. They organised tours to various destinations, locally, interstate and overseas to view these new ideas.
As part of their initiative and the need to highlight the local fruit industry in the Perth Hills, in 1984 the first field day was held. As time evolved the field day moved to a more modern, community originated feel, still with the agricultural industry flare to it – Perth Hills Festival.
Today the Hills Orchard Improvement Group Inc. with their 120 members are still growing and focused on highlighting the agricultural area of the Perth Hills and other areas of Western Australia. They know the value of having something locally grown for their local community and wish to share it with the broader community.
Come join us for lunch at a long table lunch! See where your fruit is grown. Join us in a festival or embrace the beauty of this area so close to the city.

Activities/Projects
We are currently looking at a Long Table Lunch, which is a new innovation for our group and trialing it in May 2023.
Past Accomplishments
Past Achievements: The Karragullen Field Day, every year from 1984. Renamed in 2017 to the Perth Hills Festival. Due to Covid no festivals have been held for the past few years. Committee meetings are held quarterly. Grower Dinner Evenings are held twice yearly highlighting guest speakers. An annual calendar is produced each year for members with sponsors supporting this production.
Sponsors
Our sponsors vary for each project and their commitment is usually small amounts. We do not have one ongoing sponsor for our organisation. Our President is usually our best advocate
