Activities/Projects
1. DPIRD Provenance Project
Building upon previous work conducted on profiling the unique climatic and geophysical elements of the Margaret River region and applying these methodologies to the Great Southern this project will use a scientific approach to investigate the relationship between site and product. The varietal focus is Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon in Margaret River and Shiraz and Riesling in the Great Southern. A key output of this project will be a template for other regions to develop a provenance narrative specific to their region.
Outcomes
1. Understand the metabolomics of wines produced from unique geophysical and climatic locals within two of Western Australia’s largest producing wine regions
2. Understand the sensory attributes of wines produced from unique geophysical and climatic locals within two of Western Australia’s largest producing wine regions
3. Identify relationships between metabolome and sensory profile within region/locality and variety
4. Provide industry with scientific rigour when communicating uniqueness across two of Western Australia’s largest producing wine regions
2. 5 year strategic plan and stakeholder review
Currently developing our next 5 year plan 2024-2028 including repeating and re-visiting a stakeholder market research survey first completed in 2018 in order to accurately measure our progress and current market needs.
