Bruce Rock Land Conservation District Committee
Description
Established in 1984 Bruce Rock LCDC purpose was for empowering farmers to spearhead land degradation issues. It has since grown to become a beneficiary of large government investments is Land and Natural Resource Management. The mission of Bruce Rock LCDC is to help growers connect and learn by conducting appropriate field days, grower trips and workshops relevant to its members.
Activities/Projects
Casual group runs excursions / outings for their members to attend other field trips. More of a loose social group but looking for structure and development moving forward. Uses Whatsapp to communicate. Works well.
Past Accomplishments
Biannually the committee aims to host a week away for its members to learn from other farmers in various regions. Since running this travel tour initiative Bruce Rock LCDC has travelled to Geraldton and Esperance to learn about farming practices from those regions. It also hosts smaller day-long field trips to other farms and neighbouring shires. Bruce Rock LCDC also holds a morning out event for members visiting a neighbouring farm looking at Morrel lime, plozza plough, and deep ripping trial. This morning of practical learning is followed with an informative afternoon session with an agtech consultant.
