The inaugural GrowAg Summit took place from 21 – 23 September in Albury NSW, and brought together 100 young agri-professionals and emerging leaders from across Australia to attend a one of a kind professional development and networking event.

Supported by Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) and the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, attendees were required to submit an application to attend and selected based on their commitment to the future of agriculture in Australia. The summit focused largely on the key themes of global opportunities in agriculture/agribusiness, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, education and leadership.

WA had strong representation at the summit, including Sarah Houston (GGA) and Sarah Hyde (Facey Group), along with representatives from DAFWA, private industry, grain production, dairy, livestock and banking sectors.

With 100 delegates from around the country and from across all sectors of the agricultural industry, the summit provided fantastic networking opportunities and built strong relationships that will be key for the emerging leaders in our industry to take things to the next level. We hope that Xavier Rizos of Westpac is right in his prediction that “the next Steve Jobs will be a farmer”!
